Anyone know what these stars represent and how to rid them?

Yes, they can be gotten rid of, I just don't remember what I did to do so. I was fiddling around and found they disappeared. However adding new app shortcuts brings them back.

Thanks.

Maybe a new icon that has not been an accessed yet?

No. I've accessed them plenty. In fact all of them had stars until I did something to rid them. But removing some in place for those two brought the stars back to them. And they are still there now so they aren't temporary either.

I think the star indicates that you've pinned it to the list, so they will stay until you remove them. The ones not starred I think will be replaced with more frequent apps you use.

No. That's actually an app widget for app shortcuts. Once you add the widget to the watch you can then customize the app you want to appear there. The app shortcuts appearing above are the ones I chose. They all originally had stars but when I was fidgeting around I got rid of them. Replacing some with the "phone" and "find my phone" shortcuts brought those stars with them. I'm just trying to figure out what I did to rid the stars when I first got the watch and was fidgeting around with it.

At any rate they (the shortcuts) don't appear to get replaced by your more frequently used app, they're there because they're the ones you choose to be there. At least that's my experience after a week of using the watch.

Regardless, your guess is as good as mine so thanks :)

Sounds like you've got more of a handle on it than me. I've actually deleted the widget as I had too many to scroll through. Now I just use the app carousel with my favourites in the first page. It did seem to me that any apps I added to the widget were given stars and stayed, and the others which were already there changed, but maybe it was my imagination!

I'm just looking at it from an operational standpoint and from there, the shortcuts don't change due to app usage. Thus far whatever I've pinned there stays there, stars or not.

That said, I am open to suggestions and did say your guess was as good as mine.

There is a preference in the Wearable App on the phone that seems to be used to determine what's go on this screen(s) (you can add more than one app shortcut page) and how they are sorted. There is a "Most Recently Used First" option. I believe "user added are stared and auto added are NOT stared" is the closest explanation.

Edit: Of course, user added will not be replaced.

Yeah, but as I said before, I got rid of them once I just don't remember what I did or how I did it.

Anyway, I've been to the Preferences (settings) panel about a million time and still can't seem to find a setting that rids those stars. And yeah, I know about the Widgets settings in the Galaxy Watch app (aka wearable watch app).

And yes, you can add more than one app shortcut page; been there done that :)

And for the record, I'm not talking about the all apps page....

I'm talking about the widgets app that allows you to pin up to six app icons....

Anyway I've resigned myself not worrying about those stars anymore, so...

Thanks.

I've reinstalled the Apps widget and strangely, mine does behave differently than yours. As I thought, the ones I pin become starred and permanent. If I leave any unstarred, they become replaced by recent apps which aren't on the dial already. This is logical so I assume it's correct behaviour. I have now made them all starred with the app shortcuts I want.
I know you've moved on from this, but I thought others might find it useful.

Stars are your favorite apps. Press one and hold. Down at the bottom you will see the blue edit semi circle. Hit it. Then you will see slightly larger circles with plus signs. Anything with a star will be there also. Hit a, plus sign to add another favorite.

Uh, yeah... been there done that. Many times.

Thanks.

I'm actually starting to see this behavior where non-starred apps get replaced by other apps. Right now the message app and calendar app have been replaced my the Gallery and Health app, so I think you guys might be right about non-stared apps being replaced by others.

That said, the apps that did replace the others are apps I rarely use. So if it's based on my "popular" app usages, it sure isn't using those.

Thanks.

I am not sure how the widget repopulates non star objects but that was sort of what I was getting at. That is a favorites widget and the Stars are normal and purposeful behavior. The menu itself moves the last used apps first. As you know tapping the center icon brings up the menu. The stars are by design to show that you have saved a favorite app there. To me it seems to populate random at times. I found that I eventually just saved favorites so I am full of stars.
