funny how a lot of people using Instagram are having a lag problem but blaming the phone and people posting screen shots about poor battery life, Facebook is always in them...
those things want to know where you are and what you are doing all the time, it's not the phones fault

Instagram scrolled faster and worked fine on my previous phone. Would have expected same performance on the Note 8.

And it's not just Instagram. Getting slow scrolling and on Chrome, Gmail etc.

Looks like you are always complaining. Optimize your phone and stop trying to scroll so fast. You might miss an Instagram post.

How do I optimize it? What settings/options should I do?

I don't do anything special to optimize my phone--I just let it take care of that automatically. I have the usual social media apps running, including FB. My Note8 goes for up to a month without rebooting, with no lag or other problems. I did find that after a month, I got video-playback stutter until I rebooted once.

I downloaded All in one toolbox to delete the unused folder and files left being and I delete the unwanted start up files and haven had any problems at all .

I lag

During the phone call switching back to the homepage it almost froze. Had to end the call and restart the phone and everything went back to normal.

It's only been 1 month.

You guys have any problems yet?

I have same issue, what should I do ?

I use Cleanmaster, try that. And make sure you have enough free space.

Cleaners are really bogus junk ware that may even be harmful to use or adware payloads that show up later.

Especially anything Cheetah Mobile.

And this wins worst advice ever. Never let anything by Cheetah Mobile onto your phone/tablet.

Cheetah mobile admitted on record to stealing their users data and selling it for income.

And use nothing. You'll find several articles on the internet saying why cleaner apps are bad.

If you have to use anything, use the built in device maintenance or the boot menu system cache clear.

Nothing extra. If you must, and you've uninstalled apps, backup with Samsung Smart Sync and restore for a clean system.

But in the meantime just wiped app cache, next up is wiping cache partition. And don't let internal storage get lower than ~10GB free.

A failing SD card can cause trouble too.

Yes makes sense... any good utilities though such as I noticed ES File Explorer pops up with notifications when it finds empty directories or left behind apk's.... one thing Clean Master does is allow you to group notifications... ?

I do this, my phone suggests it. Still lag that I didn't have on my Note 5.

I'm having a gallery lag where it will stutter opening and closing pics. Anyone have a solution to this?

Gallery app works just fine for me.
No lag whatsoever on my N8, with any apps or functions.
Crazy fast, in fact.

As with most (all?) of the reports of "lag", it points to something local to the phone: bloat, app interaction, bad app behavior, configs carried over from previous installs, lack of basic maintenance, etc.

Hope you can localize it to your specific situation.

anybody with gallery lag should check if they are storing photos in the cloud or on the phone, if in the cloud then they could obviously get lag opening pics depending on the quality of their connection at the time
