This just started in the last day but everyone who I talk to on the phone say they hear an echo of their own voice. I haven't installed any new apps recently and am using the stock phone app. I did get the November Security Update on Monday so not sure if that broke something. But this never happened before. I tried turning WIFI calling off and it made no difference. I tried speaker and the said that made it worse. This evening with my son, I tried turning down the volume for voice calls and he said that helped but if I make it too low, I won't be able to hear. Not sure what else to try at this point.

It happened to me once after the security update yesterday
Today everything is good

Check the opening of the secondary mic at the top of the phone and make sure it's not blocked by anything. I think that can sometimes cause an echoing artifact.

And if B. Diddy's suggestion doesn't work, bring the phone to your carrier, so they can hear the effect - it can be in their system. (Then they'd have you call someone at tech support [they'd get the number of the particular support person] and they could trace back to where the echo is coming from.)

Thanks everyone! It is still happening but less if I turn the call volume down so I will stop by a Verizon store this week sometime.

My daughter made an interesting point with this. Prior to this issue starting, I had taken it to an authorized Google Repair place to have a new battery put in. I'm wondering while they were doing that, something got moved or something in relation to the mics. I've contacted them but haven't heard back yet.

Hmm, that does certainly sound suspicious. Hopefully you get some sort of response from them!

I took my phone back to the UBreakIFix place that had replaced the battery on Nov 2. Turns out when they were replacing the battery and took the back off, they ripped the noise cancelling thingys which I guess are delicate. But they don't have just those parts to replace so they had to put a brand new display in. But the echo is gone.
