Static IP on Stock ROM

When I'm at work I need to set a static IP to get onto the wifi but the built in wifi settings on the stock rom doesn't support static IP. I tried WiFi Static from the market but it didn't work at all. The Wifi menu would just say "Unable to obtain IP" and then not connect.

Am I not using the app properly or does the nookcolor not support static address.

That's a good question. I don't know if it can be set with a static IP with a built in function but there is an app in the market called WiFi Static(free) that should do the trick.

Oh shoot! Sorry! Must have glossed over that! Are you sure your work allows additional devices to connect? It's possible that they have mac filtering or other restrictions in place.

No, definitely not. I'm one of the admins so I know how to get around it. I think Wifi static actually messed up my IP stuff all together because now I can't even connected to my phone via tethering which I know worked before using Wifi static.

Ok I got it working. For anyone else looking to do the same here are tips:

1. Definitely use the generate feature -- accessible through the menu button -- once connected to the wireless access point you want it for. I didn't do this and entered in the WAP my self but I think the app needs it to be case sensitive.

2. If you uninstall this app make sure you go into it the app and have it reset your devices IP settings. If you do not the nook will not properly connect to other devices.
