Stereo bluetooth headset playing mono?

I have the Xperia Z5, and I just bought the SBS runway 4. Both (left and right) earphones are working, but the sound is mono. I understand that Android triggers mono audio when detecting a bluetooth mic. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a setting to toggle stereo and mono in Sony's version of Marshmallow, although other companies include it in the "accessibility" tab in settings. Does anyone know an app to enable stereo??

It sounds like it didn't advertise it's capabilities correctly during initial pairing. Try deleting the device and re-pairing it. I had some old Motorola bluetooth headphones that used to do that. My new Sony ones worked first time though.

Hmmm, dunno what to tell you then, my Sony headphones (MDR-XB650BT) also have a mic and are rocking stereo, so it definitely isn't "Android switches to mono if it detects a mic".

Did you fixed this problem? I have the same. Xperia M2 Aqua with bluetooth headphones plays only Mono
