Is this really an issue? I do banking etc on this device.. Strange that Samsung spend a fortune on ads comparing itself to ios but this is one area its a massive letdown. I have an unlocked phone purchased directly from Samsung.. Shame they font listen to us... But it's an area I feel that once they have our money they don't care.

I just checked mine and I'm on the October security. Then again mine is not unlocked. Have you checked manually for updates?

Yep I checked manually it seems only a few have been updated probably less than 5 percent of the ones sold

Truly disgusting really Samsung

If you want fast updates the only way to guarantee anything is to have a phone directly from Google. Other companies just don't have the best track record for updates.

Once phones have Oreo or later baked in that should change by separating carrier based software from kernel.

Yes but a 1000 dollar phone?

You act as if the Note 8 isn't already extremely close to that price :P.

Also it isn't a $1000 phone unless you grab the XL version AND the highest storage combo. Not all will do that.

I got November 1st security update this morning on one of my Notes but not the other, both unlocked ones

realised that the on that got the update is Vodafone-branded but still unlocked, the other still on 1st August is unbranded

according to sammobile November update is now rolling out in the UK but I don't have it yet on EE branded firmware

Thailand still no update unlocked and $1000

Wait so you already paid $1k for your Note .. so why upset at the Pixel XL 128 price ? :P.

I mean I get it isn't cheap but if you truly value updates Google phones are the only way to get guaranteed ones. You just have to weigh out the pros / cons. Is that one negative to Samsung that you can handle with all the other pros they give? Or is it a deal breaker? etc. etc.

August 1 - unlocked phone, Switzerland. This is a freaking joke. Pixel XL isn’t an option here as they’re not sold in Switzerland

I received the November 1 security update this morning as well. Note8, on Verizon.
