Still on August 1 security

It would really assist if people included their country when they commented.

Good suggestion, country and service carrier included would not only be helpful, but add another level of interest.

My 1 Note 8 autoupdated and the other did not. You can ADB side load like I did but it resets the device.

I think Samsung wants Project Treble to be a fate accomplie even more than we do. Patching and updates are too complex and a hassle.

I just went and checked mine (Unlocked from Best Buy...USA, using Verizon SIM). I was on the August security update. I went into settings, software update, and the first option is Download updates manually, which I tapped on. It then downloaded an update (348MB+/- a couple MBs). After it installed I was on the November 1st security update.

So perhaps some users have to do the updates manually like I did. There is another option to set a date and time...I didn't look into it but I'm assuming you could also set it up to automatically look for the update and install it using that option (more of a "push" rather than having to do it manually).

ETA: This is not a Verizon branded phone. So I have no carrier logos of any kind...just moved my Verizon SIM from my old phone to this phone.

I just bought mine yesterday on ATT and it's still on August but I am not worried about it. I try not to worry about that stuff

But I think security updates are essential now due to the major issues out there and to ensure you are secure specially if you do banking etc

what really frustrates me with the Note 8 is I had an s7 edge and the security update policy was so much better. I almost certain I would have a newer patch than august on the edge right now so why are Samsung supporting an older phone better than their newest flagship? I don't mind so much about OS updates of the phone is already working well but security patches should come through much much faster than they are right now. disappointed

I'm running my unlocked Note 8 here in the UK and still no sign of November security patch.

I find Samsung so frustrating on how they roll out updates, if Apple and Google can roll out updates worldwide at the same time then why does Samsung not have the ability to roll out updates to their unlocked devices at the same time?

It's very strange to hear some UK users have the update and other like me, no sign.

Times like this I do consider going back to my Pixel XL where I know I'm updated with the latest security patches and Android OS.

I keep my eye on XDA and Project Treble News. That will mostly be for devices in the future that shipped with Oreo 8.0.0 or later.
