I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 (SCH-1535), bought it May of this year.
It's running Jelly Bean 4.1.2. I recently rooted it, about a week ago.
Running Touchwiz, no customs ROMs.
No apps were recently installed, and it was running fine previously.
this morning, after I woke up, I turned on my phone, checked it, put it next to me on my desk.
A few minutes later, it auto-reboots by itself.
It has done this a few times in the past, before I rooted, so I didn't think much of it, except when it was stuck, flashing the boot animation, with the '4G LTE' circles.

I pulled the battery, tried a reboot (multiple times)
I booted it in recovery mode, wiped cache, and rebooted. (multiple times)
I tried booting it in safe mode. (didn't work, multiple times)
I really don't want to do a data wipe on my phone, I don't think I have anything backed up, also I have some pretty important pictures on my phone.
Suggestions? :'(

I think your only option is to do a data wipe (factory reset) through the recovery menu. I know that's probably not what you wanted to hear but I had the same thing happen to me a couple of days ago and after I did the reset, everything worked out just fine on my phone. You'll just have to reinstall everything that doesn't get put back onto your computer but that's better than having a phone that you can't use because of it being stuck on the boot screen.

Did you have the play store set to auto update your apps?

Do you have a custom recovery? Also the play store could have updated a app that's now causing problems.

I'm having a similar problem. My phone also keeps shutting down on its own and gets stuck on the flashing 4g screen with the circles.
I have master reset it four times now. I have never rooted or booted or basically done anything to my phone other than download a few apps. I.e. FaceBook, instagram, pinterest etc...
I have even traded with a friend of mine and still have the same problem happening in the new s3. I'm literally at my wits end. It must be an app I have installed but I've basically uninstalled everything except the ones previously mentioned. Should I just bite the bullet and get an iPhone? I hand no idea what the problem is and I'm geTting tired of every month having to reset and lose all my information and more.
Someone please help:-(

Natalie,

What should i do?
You could try providing a little more information:
- which model/carrier/region/firmware?
- what was going on when the problem started?

That's correct. If you already have the firmware, you can try putting the phone in Download mode and reloading it.

If you don't have it just do a Google search for your model number and pick the correct file for your region/carrier.

OK so all of your photos should be saved to your google drive if signed in with your google account (assuming you did) use a computer to make sure those photos are saved to your google drive if they are it is safe wipe all data or do whatever it was you didn't want to do because of the important photos
