My advice... Read through the stickies..they have all you need. That's why they're there.

Rooting will be simple and give you the advantages of removing bloatware and etc. If want to change the look why not try different launchers before getting into flashing roms. It will give you that non stock look and will give you time to research properly on the roms.

I sort of agree with Jim's comments above. Personally I have always used Go Launcher EX. It is an AMAZING launcher and has a ton of flexibility/customization. (folders, icons, hiding apps, etc).

But if you **need** to flash then at this time I would either go with CM7 or my personal choice TSM Pool Party

Either way you can't go wrong.

Look here for all the info you need to root and upgrade.

You have gotten yourself a top notch phone so enjoy! Let us know if you need any more help. We are always here to assist.

Sorry to contradict you sushi, but hawkins if this is your first time rooting, my advice would be to hold off on CM7 or Pool Party for now. Flashing those ROMs can get slightly more complicated and tricky. Read the stickys and check out ROMs like PowerWashed, TSM Resurrection, GeeWiz, or even Community ROM even though it hasn't been updated in a long time. You can find links to all the available ROMs here:
