Is there a way to replace the Sense'd applications on the Incredible with the stock Android applications without rooting the phone and flashing an alternate ROM? We have the 3D gallery already, but I haven't seen anything for the browser, messaging, contacts, dialer, or music player, which I am most interested in.

Additionally, is there any way to replace the Sense notification bar with the stock Android bar, again without rooting?

Why don't you want to root?

Anyways, no there really isn't a way to port those apps without going to an AOSP ROM, like I'm on, because they go deeper than just the apps.

You should consider rooting, though.

I'd prefer to avoid rooting if possible while getting these capabilities, but if it's the only option I'll go ahead and start working on that.

Also, my Incredible has a loose, squeaky back cover on the bottom half--most noticeable when clicking the trackball--would the warranty cover this?

Yes, but you'll have to unroot to get that fixed. :-)

What vanilla ROMs would you guys suggest? I'm looking for something as close to vanilla Android as possible. SkyRaider Vanilla seems like a good choice, but it's difficult for me to discern while sifting through all of the information available.

I would try cyanogen or lithium NG. I am currently using lithium and I really like it. I believe that Skyraider is not true vanilla like cyanogen and lithium.

You're right--I'm pretty sure it's senseless, but not necessarily vanilla. Am I correct in my perception of Cyanogenmod as an "enhanced" vanilla ROM, and Lithium NG as a "streamlined" vanilla ROM?

I think you are correct in your assessment. I know that cyanogen has more options built into it than lithium does.

@DreamSTi, I use LauncherPro, but unfortunately it doesn't provide what I'm looking for in regards to this thread.

@dmoney I'll just root and flash Lithium NG first to see how it is. Thanks!

You can't replace them, but you can install vanilla apps as long as you have the .apk

A replacement door would probably run you $5 :P

I rooted my phone and I'm running CM6, so I've got all my vanilla apps now =)

I discovered the problem was my battery, I'm using the EVO battery which is slightly larger than the stock 1300mAH. Unfortunate.
