Stock Calendar: No graphics or text in month view

My stock calendar no longer displays graphics or text in month view. The calendar was working great for me - at a glance I could see events for the day. It also displayed graphics (ex running shoes, b'day cake, push pin...). Now I have to click on the date to see the events for the day. Anyone know what's going on or how I can get the old version of the calendar back????
