Stock email app, no more threaded

Seems i can't find the setting to show email in threaded conversations instead of individual emails. Anyone know what happened to that option?

When opening an email, there is a little message bubble icon on the lower right. Sometimes it has a number showing the number of mails exchanged. Tapping that opens a threaded view.

Thanks, sorry, I should have been more specific. I'm talking about in the email home screen viewing the inbox. They used to be combined into one conversation and the little thread flag with a number in it appeared right in the inbox view. Now it doesn't show until after I've clicked on one of the emails, then I see the threaded flag. But, in the inbox, they appear as individual separate emails, not grouped into the conversation thread.
