Thanks for spending your time on making the phone more awesome for everyone as usual.

I'm not really interested I'm this, but curious: could I just dl it on my phone then move it to system/app in Root Explorer?

Not sure.. My original intent was to make it flashable via CWM, but for some reason it copied fine, but would not show up in the app drawer afterward. "adb push" always worked, so I stuck with that.

If you've already renamed/moved your old CarHome.apk/.odex and feel like trying it (adding it via root explorer), I would love to hear your feedback on how that worked. You may just be able to move the file directly, and not even need to install it. "adb push" just copies, doesn't install it.

No I just have it frozen in Titanium. Would take 2 min to change and try but you've already got me skeered with appbrain. I have voodoo as well and I'm not as savvy as you guys, have no windows at my house for odin, I think if something went wrong I'd spend the better part of my weekend getting it back.

Not really worth it when it works fine with adb if anyone wants this app. Was just kind of curious about installing apps into system via RE, thought you might know.

Sorry :(

Ok i downloaded the file and tryed to use root explore to switch it, did not work, so how do i enter a comand like you posted?

I would imagine since it's just an apk file you could copy it to your SD card, then with your phones file explorer navigate to it and select install. If you still have the original on your phone it will overwrite it (after confirmation).

I stand corrected. I tried installing this without the stock app in my system/app folder. Failed. Reinstalled the stock app (works) then tried again. Still failed. Copying the modified one over the stock with Root Explorer does work after a reboot.

That didn't work for me the app launches but when i click the navigate it force closes.

Just moved the Verizon Stock CarHome.apk to the SD card and moved the linked CarHome.apk to the system/app folder with RootExplorer and all is well. Uses Google Navigation and Google Voice Search with no crashing or force closing so far.

I've never really used the Car Cradle App before so I don't know if that makes a difference. Did it use Bing Search or Bing Maps by default? I'm getting the car dock for Christmas so it's great to have this fixed in advance. Thanks!

I have been trying to get this to work for two hours and i cant get vz nav to stop working i went to sys / apps and added .old to it but it still comes up... I did what the last post said to get carhome.apk in apps, it worked for him but it isnt working for me any ideas....

Thanks!
