Stock, unrooted, EC05 kernel?

I ran the OneClickRootCWM3.0.2.5-EC05 successfully. The phone rebooted and all worked well. My next step was to backup so I could then install the SDX App Remover to get rid of the junk like Amazon MP3 and Sprint Football.

Sooo, following instructions, I powered off, held Volume Down, Camera and Power... it came up to the SAMSUNG black screen and stopped there.

If I can find just the plain stock EC05 FroYo kernel, can I upload that with Odin and NOT wipe everything?

There's no "rolling back" to an earlier version on this Epic, it shipped with EC05.

I'm currently downloading what's supposed to be a full, pre-rooted EC05 that will install with Odin without wiping the phone. MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

That pre-rooted, no wipe, full EC05 ROM un-bricked my Epic with Odin Odin3+v1.61. I used the victory_8G_100528.pit file too. All my stuff appears to still be on the phone. :)

It has CWM 2.5.1.0, which it booted directly into upon Odin finishing. I just rebooted, set it to USB debugging and ran the full install of OneClickRootCWM3.1.0.1-EC05

Power down, wait until all lights off, hold volume down, camera and power - aaaand... damn thing is once again stuck on the SAMSUNG screen. Battery out and in, poke power and back to stuck on SAMSUNG screen.

Grrrr. Reflashing EC05x_DXC.tar and *will not* update CWM version from 2.5.1.0 to 3.1.0.1! It's working again so I'm not dinking around with it further. Now on to stripping out some bloatware - and see if that re-bricks it. :P

I'd love to see the no-wipe feature of this ROM put into an unrooted EC05 for when the OTA Gingerbread update is released.
