Before I discovered how to turn off auto-update the phone took the download for 10. I had hoped that would stop the install but got a popup today saying it's going to install it tomorrow.

I need to postpone that install but can't figure out if it's possible to do that. Does anyone know?

Probably too late at this point...

Mind if I ask why you don't want to install 10?

Honestly I'm not sure... It's not something I've done on a Samsung phone... Best thing to do is go to settings>software update and poke around... I can tell you that on a oneplus phone the downloaded update is stored in system cache, and wiping system cache wipes the download.

Yeah, it is too late. It installed and I could no longer do MMS texts with Verizon. Apparently, this is an issue with Verizon and according to Ting, my provider, will require a patch to Android 10 to fix. Fortunately, we also had a Sprint sim card with them and I swapped them out and got it working again.

My one guess at stopping it would have been to do a factory reset which I didn't want to do and from your comment, I think that might have worked. Although wiping the cache would have been simpler.

none of that matters. mms is a basic function included in all SMS apps. including Samsung messages. swap over to Google messages and you will have rcs on top of it all.

I've been using the Google message app and neither it nor the Samsung message app would work with Verizon. Initially, there was no internet access with mobile data either until Ting had me add some APNs.

Apps like FB won't work since some of the people we are interacting with don't use those and in particular, one organization that we do volunteer work with.

Appreciate the suggestions.

Is your phone a unlocked version with Verizon sim or carrier version?

I think that's where your issue is , if you using Verizon sim . Try these if they dont work stop by a Verizon store see if they can help setup a APN

Thanks, I'll keep the link but at this point, I'm waiting on Ting to get the word from Verizon that this is fixed. One of the APN they had me enter was similar to the one listed on this page but for some reason, it would never take.

I will update this when I learn more or if I attempt the switch again. Thanks again.
