Android Central Question

My download manager is showing more files and zipped files and hundreds of pics that it never showed before...the only new thing is under settings on file manager it says storage/emulated/0/transfer ..does this mean someone transferred my files.somewhere? .If so can I find out where they transferred it? Does this mean they got all my login info and passwords or bank and credit card info too? How do I delete all these files from showing on my file manager now bcuz I only understand the simplified view?also did they need access to my phone in order to download or transfer the files?

storage/emulated/0/ is your "internal SD card". storage/emulated/0/transfer is a folder in there. Look in there with your file manager, and if you don't see a file named .nomedia (leading dot), find one somewhere and copy it to there, or copy some small file there and rename it .nomedia. (Then restart the phone.) That will keep Media Scan from reading that folder, so you won't see any pictures in it.

The only way to keep the file manager from seeing the files is to delete them - the file manager doesn't even honor the "hidden" notification on a file (the leading dot) - it's supposed to show you everything. But pictures that an app is using should be located in a folder with a .nomedia file, so apps like Gallery won't show them.

Did someone transfer files to your phone? More likely some app or some action you took created the folder. Does someone need direct access to your phone to hack it? No. But I'm willing to bet that, other than parents, no one posting here has ever gotten a phone hacked. It's too much work, most of us aren't important to hack and the few who are keep our phones secure. (Hack my phone and you'll find a lot of unused storage. [Hint: It's not unused.])

I also found this recent action in my Google history...it says about a package installer at 234am...but I didnt do any installations at that time of any apps....then at 3 it interacted w my Samsung j3 operating software....what does that mean happened....I have never heard or seen this before EVER

1. Create the file in the folder with the pictures. (Folder, not Gallery album - use your file manager [My Files, I think].) Since the pictures are in storage/emulated/0/transfer, you create it there. (sdcard is internal, extSdCard is the SD card.) Just navigate to transfer, then create, name it .nomedia and you're done. (You don't even need a file - as long as the name .nomedia is in transfer's directory, apps like Gallery and Photos won't show them. File managers will, though - they show all files, including the hidden ones [the ones starting with a dot].)

2. If an app updated, the package installer ran to install the update.
