Samsung is giving me the runaround with the 512gb model. It was supposed to ship today. I have been away from android for awhile. I initially had the 128gb but returned it to T-Mobile for more memory (obviously). In your guy’s expertise would you go for higher memory or just add an SD card? I thought in the past and correct me if I am wrong SD cards slowed down android phones. Again been awhile since I made the jump back over. Thank you in advance!!

Hi, depends , for me 128gb was plenty so you might need more storage for your personal preference. Sd card are great for pictures/documents but they can get corrupt and known for that, not to say you can't use them but back up different places in case something does go wrong .

The standard Note 20 doesn't support an SD card, so I could possibly justify the additional cost for 512G. However, since the Ultra does support SD cards, it's not worth the extra cost to get the 512G model.

Depends on the individual, I've got a 64Gb Note 8 with around 20Gb free storage and a 128Gb Note 9 that has over 70Gb free storage.

For me paying extra for more storage is an absolute waste of money.

With SD cards the primary performance hit comes from running apps off the sd card which Samsung doesn't allow anyways.

S20 owner here, 256GB very preferable to me.

Mine has 128GB and with minor amount of media & doc files, using ~40GB. At one point I put all my music and photos and ended up with 100GB.

I found having 100GB some things were sluggish when scanning searching

Having SDXC didn't help until I cleaned out internal drive. I always aim to keep 50% storage free.

Prices on 256 or 512 are excellent. Also easy to use external USBC SD for backup.

I looked at Note20 and sorry it has 8/128 configuration. So 512 makes sense especially if you avoid cloud storage or just want local copies.

Where I live, the N20U is sold as Exynos/256GB/8GB so I'll probably save my 64GB SD card for the GoPro.

I went with 128gb Ultra and bought a 512gb Samsung card for $60. That's a cheaper option then buying the 512gb ultra.

For some people.
Buying the 512 model is a 200.00 option if I remember right.

Tell all the folks that bought the S series galaxy in the Spring..they wasted their money..

To a lot of people..
They want what they want..
They ain't trying to save money like some folks look at it.

When I bought my Note 20 Ultra 5G universal unlocked from Best Buy.

I preordered the phones.
Wanted them NOW.
spent 2800.00 on a phone for the wife and me .

I would of had to wait to get me a 512 gb model.

You knew these phones was coming out a yr ago.
You didnt save no money for a yr.

Give me a break.

I have the 256gb Snapdragon N20 Ultra and prefer not to use a Sd card as I've had one fail on me.

I don't think I'll ever fill this amount of storage to be honest.

I have a 128GB Ultra. I have everything loaded that I had on my previous phone, and then some. I am showing 81GB free on the main storage, and 33 GB free on my 200GB card.
I have always had a SD card, since like forever. Never had an issue in anything but a Raspberry PI that occasionally would get powered off without a proper shut down.

My sweet spot is 256 gb, but since I could only choose between the 128 and 512 i picked 512. My music alone would take up half the space on the 128. Although I have 256 sd card, at one point my music wouldn't play from the sd card so the 128 was out. 512 is alot for me, but the plus side ot me is I can bypass using a sd card and just use my internal storage. I'd rather have too much space than too little space or have to worry about my sd card messing up.

It ultimately depends on how much memory you think you need. The 128 /sd card combo may work for you.

Honestly with how good cloud services are getting and everything being bases on streaming. I don't really see a need for a ton of storage on a phone. I just got the 128 and after initial setup and almost all my apps and other things. I am at 37gb used, I was a little worried at first with the 128 due to androids bigger foot print. With those numbers after setting it up, I have no worries about running out of storage with my usage.
