storage space used up as soon as phone setup started

WTH is a DS-H19? I Google it and nothing comes up.

I'm wondering if you managed to get a clone.

Take it to AT&T and have it checked out.

Also, I'm pretty sure that US models weren't sold as dual SIM.

When I Google brand alps mobile mt6580 Samsung... Brings up a page of clone roms

My guess... International dual SIM with a ROM gone very wrong or clone. If it's the former, maybe can be fixed?

Is there any way to restore the Download mode?
I have tried to connect the phone through ADB and fastboot, but as soon as the phone reboots in fastboot mode i loose any conectivity to the PC....

Wish I knew how to get it to download.
Did you try posting on xda-developers site yet?

Looking online, I see Alps phones that are clones of samsung phones. Looks like these phones can be purchased for around $100 or so. The processor on your phone is a MediaTek processors like what is used inn medium to low end devices. You probably don't really have 64GB of memory, it has probably been hacked to look like 64GB like fake sd cards. My guess is that your memory is probably 8 or 16GB.

Looking at your photos and the phone info after you cleared the eMMC there are several things that scream fake, but those can be hard too tell if you aren't really familiar with a realm GS8+ or don't have one to compare it with.

The person that sold you the phone probably knew what he had. I would file a report with your local police because it would be good to try and stop this guy from defrauding someone else and you probably won't get any of your money back, but you might help prevent someone else from getting taken. People like this need to be stopped, he has probably done this to others before you and is going to do it someone else.
I am sorry that you went through this, but please report out and maybe you will keep someone from going through the same pain.

Another hard lesson learned re: the importance of buying from a reputable source. CraigsList is not that.

Definitely sucks you've gone through this! As imarek3 suggested, definitely file a police report and give them any info you have on this person. Email address, phone number, exchanged emails/texts ... whatever you have. This scumbag needs to be caught.

Well, Everything Imarek3 said seems to be spot on...
Sadly, not much I can do with the crappy phone... I may throw a micro SD card and give it to my daugther so she can pretend she has a phone...
Filing police report tomorrow AM.
Thanks, everybody that contributed to this thread!!! I REALLY appreciated your time, effor and input!

So sorry for the bad outcome.

Yeah, that sucks. Filing a report with the police will help. If anything it's one more piece of evidence.

How much did you pay for it?

Sorry to jump in, but I also fell for the deal too good to be true. Craigslist, Salem Oregon. I paid $250. Crap...
I roughly know where he lives and have a cell number. I suppose the cell number no longer works but I'll try it. My wife will be reminding me of this for years to come.

Oh, and its virus invested as well, which is what got me looking into rooting it.
