My boss has a flip phone from forever ago. He's a sprint customer, out of contact. The other day something weird happened.

He can call out but if you try to call him you get "the *Verizon Wireless* number you are trying to reach is not available or is no longer.... Bla bla bla"

Sprint has no clue what is going on.

Anyone else ever heard of something like this happening?

He might be roaming, if you are roaming and try to call customer service it will connect you to VZW.

That's what everyone says. But he's not roaming. He's at home, at work. Same places he always goes. He's not trying to call cs. If you call him you get the verizon recording.

Sprint is at a loss. He hasn't been able to get calls since last Friday

How old exactly is this phone, since I have no more ideas I chalk it up to the phone.

I wonder if Verizon accidentally tried to port his number over? Maybe someone was signing up and the rep put the wrong number in the system before they caught the error. I'd suggest that Sprint try porting his own number back to their system again.

These things happen randomly, i've seen it. Could be porting related, could be cross-carrier switching related, could be anything.

The real problem is finding a rep (at any level) that can properly even identify the situation.

First thing i would do, is move that number to another sprint phone to see if the problem follows the 'line' or if has anything to do with the device.

At least if it follows the line, you know its 100% network related, and not the hardware.

After that, good luck. These things either work themselves out, or they have to put in a network ticket to troubleshoot.

In any instance, this is not a quick fix, usually.

Thanks guys. He just told me that it's happening to his wife's phone too.

That happened to me last Oct. When I was in NYC. I'm from PA and have an EVO 4G. Was getting sketchy service all day an called another Sprint phone I'm the same hotel room. Get the same VZW message. Never could figure it out.
