Strange Faint ringtone

Hi woke up to the sound of a faint ring tone....looked arround realized it was coming from my DROID 3.... no call in progress... no alarm just the sound....pulled the batery it stopped....

EXACT same thing just happened on my Motorola Photon! I kept asking "Who's phone is that" and pulled my phone out of my pocket and it was mine. I put my video camera on and hit record to see if it would interrupt the ringing, but it wouldn't. Had to turn the phone off to make it stop...

Anyone else???

I have the "faint ring" occasionally from my HTC DNA.
Powering the phone down doesn't even stop it.
HTC support suggested wiping the cache... which I have been unable to accomplish so far using the instructions provided. Searching for a solution...
