Sorry didn't see any mention of a .nomedia file anywhere in the thread. It's an approach that has always worked for me in this scenario.
Maybe delete it and recreate it.
Wow, that seemed like such a longshot, but it totally worked. (fyi, copied a .nomedia from a folder that was working)
I wonder if a solution like that is in the cards for the OP?
