Even if you run a test from the hardware testing menu, the results are the same..

Basically, I believe the vibration function stopped working after I dropped my phone., however, if you tap the phone hard enough it works...

So I bought a new motor, replaced it and it behaves the same.

It seems that when the counterweight on the motor sits in certain positions, it stops responding and won't spin (ie. doesn't vibrate). If you manually move the counter weight a few degrees of rotation and try again, it works! Until, eventually, the counter weight lands at rest in the same position where it fails to respond again.

Two faulty motors? or something else? I don't believe something like this would be software related. Especially after the physical drop.

It's probably a connection elsewhere on the board. Check the ribbon connections to make sure everything looks fine. I agree that it's probably not software related.

I didn't really remove too much, and as most of of the boards are covered, I couldn't really see anything obvious at first glance.

Its strange though, that turning the motor just a few degrees makes it work for a bit?

My knowledge of motors is both rusty and basic, but don't you need to switch polarity every 180' turn so the motor continues to rotate? Not sure if thats AC or DC motors! or if I'm completely mistaken! But it almost feels like the motor is landing in a 'dead spot' until its moved again. I can only imagine a fault like that would be with the motor(s) it/themselves.

I've contacted the supplier to see if I can get a replacement. I will report back.
