Strange Signal issues :(

Greetings there folks!

I wanted to try out Tmo. U have a sim card and I get 2-3 bars of signal but as soon as I try and use data/phone call to try and activate it I see it go to "No service". If i let it sit there then it comes back. Then I unlock then the same message pops up...Tmo's map says that I;m in a "Fair LTE coverage" area. I'm using my Moto X 14' Pure Edition or my OP3T ad I get the same result...Does the sim card need to activated before it will hold a signal? APN settings are all correct as well. Both devices on the correct bands as well.

Guessing I may need to stick it out with att's craptastic pricing. Any help would be great appreciated.

You're probably on LTE for data, but it has to switch to GPRS to make calls, unless you have VoLTE enabled on your phone. If you're in a band 12 area, LTE may be the only signal hitting your phone. When it goes back to 3g to make the call, it "loses" service, since there simply isn't any 3g service to fall back to.
-edit: I believe Activation requires a 3g signal as well.
