Streaming apps that are paused start automatically on my Note 8 if a notification arrives

Since upgrading from my Note 4 to the Note 8, I've noticed that several apps (RZIM for example) that I use to stream audio won't stay paused if a text message notification comes in. Has anyone else noticed this? Is this a bug, or perhaps there's a setting I need to change?

Also, one of my favorite apps, AFR (American Family Radio) won't stream anymore at all since moving to my Note 8! I've tried re-installing, clearing cache, deleting the files associated with it...no luck. If these aren't things that can be resolved, I will be forced to return it.

Did you solve this? I haven't used audio or other much, the only one was a phone call during Netflix.
