Stressed out over pdf downloads

I've had my Samsung Chromebook Plus for about six months. I've been pretty satisfied so far. (Still don't like Office) But, I've noticed of late that when using Chrome Browser, I cannot open any PDF links.

I've visited many pages with PDF links. I have Xodo for opening PDFs from my files. (which is no problem) I've tried other extensions. I go to Settings/Advanced/Privacy/Content settings/PDF and the only option is "Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome". Whether I toggle on or off nothing happens!

This is really bad, since I'm a big PDF user. I have no problem opening links in Chrome using my Samsung Galaxy S8 phone or my Samsung Galaxy Tab A. Just when I use the Chromebook.

Can anyone help, please? Thanks.

Try finding a Chrome PDF extension. I don't use Chrome regularly so I've never installed one, but there are probably at least a few.

Which Chrome OS version are you on? Are you on Stable or Beta?
