Hi,

I am stuck with a weird problem on my LG G2; there is about 1cm strip of my screen that is not responding to any touch (the lower fixed icons, phone, email, etc).
I tried rebooting, I updated the software, and it stays un-responding within all of the apps. I had to double the app icons to be able to use them.
I never dropped it, no water got onto it; it was working one second and then nothing the next.

Is there a way for me to get it to work properly again or do you think it's the touchscreen itself that would have to be replaced??

Welcome to Android Central! Does it matter if the screen is in landscape vs portrait orientation? If the faulty area remains exactly the same, I'd be inclined to think it's a hardware issue. But if the faulty area shifts in landscape so that it's still at the lower end of the screen, I'd wonder about some weird software glitch.

I have the exact same issue. Except mine is at the upper area, about a half inch under the highest bezel. Mind you I am rooted, running two additional kernel enhancement patches, and overclocked past the factory 2.2GHz. (so Im actually overclocked :D ) to 2.5GHz. (gets warm at that speed over long periods of time) And overvolted to 1100mv @ 2.5GHz.

It also has the xposed module and many enhancements added. So I don't know what it may be. I have various hidden settings revealed like hidden NAV bar. ( I think that might be the culprit) I will not, WILL NOT, factory restore, I spent a ton of time getting my settings just right. (Now I have to find a way to make a FULL backup IMAGE of the phones entire state. Incase of some damn event like before on my lesser phone that just went kerplunk)

What I plan on doing is going to one of those shady cell phone shops run by guys with thick accents. And having them simply disconnect and reconnect the screens lead wire. And possibly clean the contacts.

My phone is under a month old, but I bought it used on Amazon. (I thought they sent me a new one when it arrived it was so flawless. It only had 13HRs of life use in the about phone section. :D ) So I have no options for replacements.

She hasn't gotten wet, dropped hard, at the most 2ft onto deep pile carpet on top of deep pile carpet. ( don't ask) I have had some software conflicts, where I needed to Hard-stall/ soft reboot a few times to get it out of the stuck state.
But it really is a annoying issue. The big beautiful screen, that I mostly use as an interface for my applications and games, ruins scores , and makes your texts and emails sound like a person riding over logs arse first. :-\

If I find any valuable info on the under web, or I find a resolve on my own, I will report back in here and let you know what steps to take.

Good luck.
