Stupid Mistake…Getting a iPhone 12 Pro Max

Not me. I agree with everything you said. Love my iphone 12 mini, and I'm looking into the Apple watch. Even though Samsung just released their best phone ever, I'm still tied to the ecosystem.

My one issue is Apple pricing. I feel violated

I'm in the opposite boat. Sometimes I wouldn't mind trying Apple, but I'm invested in the Google ecosystem. I have a Chromebook and everything. It just works better if I have Google/Android.

I was a Android user from 2010 to 2018, I was the only one who was using Android in my group of friends and I vowed never to switch to IOS. An ex colleague started working for apple and he gets 17% discount so I took advantage of it bought a 8 Plus and I realise how much I enjoy the simple and easy user experience. I used to be the guy who rooted and flashed roms but as I got older that just wasn’t me anymore.
Also Apple Pay is now non-negotiable due to it having no limit and being in the UK contact less payment is standard, I have left my wallet multiple times and Apple Pay has saved me a lot of hassle.
I still have a pixel and probably will always buy the midrange one but Android will never be my main phone for the foreseeable future.

Until Fuschia is released lol

I originally bought a S21 Ultra at release…the silver model or whatever it’s called. I liked the phone but didn’t really care too much for the color. But a great phone.

Ended up trading it at a local Cellphone place for a iPhone 12 Pro Max. And that was a huge mistake. Since having a chance to try the 12 Pro Max, I know I made a huge mistake in trading my Ultra for it. It has good battery life, camera is ok etc. But the Ultra is definitely where it’s at.

I’m trading this IPhone into Best Buy tomorrow and using that to buy a matte black Ultra this time…can’t wait!

I made that mistake too. Ordered the Note 20 in Mystic Bronze. Loved the color but then went on an Apple is superior bender back in December and sold the Note 20 for an Iphone 12. Normally phones excite me when I get them, the IP12 was sort of ho hum. Four months later, I am back with Android and the S21 Ultra. Will be selling the Iphone 12 soon.

I agree with you. When there is no more excitement left for tech in life, Apple is the way.

I honestly believe that if Apple literally allowed their customers the ability to customize their phones as much as Android does...they would put many Android OEM's out of business. The way they lock everything down is the primary reason I will not even consider getting one...well, I did "consider" it...but then I came to my senses and never gave it a second thought!

One of the only things holding me in my current situation (switching back and forth from S21 Ultra to 12 Pro Max) is all the money I've spent on iTunes movies. If I could watch my iTunes movies on my S21 Ultra it would be game over for my apple devices. But as it stands I have the 2 phones iPad pro 2020 and MacBook air. Would love to get the tab s7+ and comparable laptop to replace them.

Movies anywhere can transfer most movies and removes the restrictions.

You can watch them all using a chromecast with google tv and the Apple TV app

I'm in a similar situation with my Chromebook. As soon as you invest - figuratively and literally - into the ecosystem, you're in it for life!

In my case I have made the switch to the iPhone 12 pro max from being a devoted customer of the Samsung series. A number of things has made my choice an easy one to switch platforms. First off Samsung pissed me off with last year's release of the s20 ultra, with the camera focusing issues from launch date. 2nd my family friends, and work all on iPhones. 3rd and prob most important - Camera consistency - I love iPhone's camera and software so much more than Samsung - I for one have noticed a big jump in the quality and consistency in pics - and video is just superior imo. S20 ultra really struggled in low light situations plus the blurry soft-skin and fur look was such a turn-off, and I am still seeing it on s21 ultra. 4th iMessage Love it - and lastly, I was just ready for a change. I don't care about the customization Android offers - it doesn't mean anything to me anymore. I just want simple and effective.

Saying all that there were some things I still missed from android - especially my favorite app from android ever - Poweramp. I missed having this app so much for listening to my music that I went out and bought a Galaxy A7 tablet (with sd card slot) so I can still play all my downloaded music - as anyone may know transferring music to iPhone from android is not fun - and apple has no music player that can come close to compare with Poweramp. So with that and much more (too much to list) I for one am loving that I went ahead and made the switch to iPhone 12 pro max - and I will be getting the 13 pro max when that comes out.

each OS has their pluses and minuses- but iPhone has become a status symbol and for me, it's a sort of turn off. I also like to be able customize my stuff, and One UI has come such a LONG way. I used to get anxiety about which OS to upgrade into, but it was just simple anxiety. and I'm so happy that Samsung sort of hit it out of the park with the s21 series. and the deals that Samsung have for these devices are so much better than Apples... so I know I can trade in my phone and get a decent price at upgrade time.

I am on both ecosystems. I recently bought an iPhone 8+ and iOS on the larger screen is really nice. I can't stand the notch so the newer phones will never be an option for me. As long as the 8+ gets updates I will try and keep it.

I prefer Android versions of apps over the iOS versions. Many people prefer the Apple versions but not me. Also in-app purchases are usually cheaper on Android. For instance I use Day One journal since about 2010. On Android I pay around £22 a year subscription but on Apple it is around £28. So the difference is quite high. And the app has the same functionality on both platforms. Luckily paying on Android still gives me access on my iPhone and iMac.

I am addicted to kwgt apps so I will never move fully to Apple. I love to customise and Samsung gives me the best customisation options.

But each to their own.

I do agree that some users will have Apple devices as a sort of status symbol. However, I'm in the same boat as you as far as wanting to customize my experience as much as possible. I too think that One UI has improved so much! It is a pleasure to use!

I've been a Samsung Android phone user since 2011. However in July 2020 I also decided to experience the "dark side"(thanks to Rene Ritchie and Mustang 7757 ) - I bought an iPhone 11 Pro Max. That was MY bait 🙂 . I got an Apple Watch 6 four months later which I've enjoyed so much I now wear it daily. I'm planning to get a Mac M1 . Instead of carrying 2 Galaxy Note phones, one is now the 11 Pro Max. As several people have already said one should buy what meets one's needs. I'm now enjoying using both iOS and Android daily. Zebra in the house 😃. However whatever the Galaxy device I carry MUST have an indwelling S Pen

That's great
Both have their advantages Android and iOS

. And I do love the Apple Watch. So I will use an iPhone for that.

But my main phones are a Samsung S10+ and a Pixel 4a 5G and I love both of them.

So nice to know that there are others here who use an Apple Watch (and keep an Apple Phone) just for that! As someone making the jump back to Samsung, I wondered how many others would have the same set up as me. (Apple Watch & Android daily driver!!)

I have been using an iphone and an android phone combo since 2016. Also have apple watch to track my activity

How do you use the apple watch with Samsung? I have an iphone that I can link my apple watch to but once I leave the house the watch doesn't get any notifications bc the iphone isn't with me. Do y'all carry both phones?
