Stupid Root Question

Okay so this may be stupid. What I would like to know, is why doesn't google root the phones for us? They are all about freedom, open source, and being anti-apple. Why dont they let us have superuser status out of the box. Or have an official way to enable it. I mean FFS, there are root only apps on the app store.

The one phone Google had any decision over came fully unlockable. Carriers and manufacturers lock down phones, to protect their own interests as well as from a CS POV

Yea... I don't to spend most of my days recovering customer's phones cause of things they probably shouldn't have been messing around in.
