Stylo 2 Plus on Cricket Wireless

I recently switched from MetroPCS to Cricket Wireless but kept using my unlocked Stylo 2 Plus phone and now I'm having an odd problem.
What works: Phone calls, Text messages, Web Browser, Speed Test app.
What does NOT work: MMS, data on non-browser apps (Maps, Netflix, etc..)

I've tried every different APN I could find - No change. I've put this sim card in an unlocked t mobile S5 and everything works great! I put it back in my Stylo 2 Plus and I get the same limitations.

Any ideas why the phone would be blocking my data from being used by apps but not by the browser??

Have you already asked Cricket about this? And are these the APN settings you tried? https://www.cricketwireless.com/sup...ice-byod/customer/bring-your-own-android.html

I do have an active email string with Cricket regarding this right now.
Those are the exact APN settings that I am using now and just sent screen shots of them to cricket last night. I have tried some slightly different ones as recommended by others but they all have the same result.

Other interesting symptoms:
-I can receive MMS on mobile data no problem, just can't send them.
-If I turn on a VPN then ALL my apps will work (except MMS but that has never worked with a VPN).

The fact that this same sim card does not have these symptoms when inserted in another phone leads me to believe that the MetroPCS branded phone is restricting certain data paths even though it is unlocked.

Maybe you need to talk to MetroPCS as well (although they might not feel any obligation to help you:-\).

Do you get an error message when you try to send MMS? Does it say that the send failed, or does nothing happen at all?

About 5-10 minutes after sending an MMS i'll get a notification indicating that the message wasn't sent and to 'tap to try again'. No indication of the reason. Its the same with the apps, I get the circling indicator for a minute or so then some sort of network connection, no connection/no internet message.

MetroPCS wasn't very helpful with stuff while I was a customer, I don't expect any help now that I no longer have an account with them.

If I could root this phone and install a custom ROM (Root is possible but no roms available), I would, just to see if there are some built in settings that don't allow certain data traffic because it is a MetroPCS phone.

I'd also like to learn more details about how a VPN works and why it allows certain data traffic to be sent/received. Then maybe find a way to allow that on the phone without the VPN. Then it all starts to become more time/work than this $125 phone is worth...

I'm curious, did you every get your issues worked out? I also am using an unlocked Metro Stylo 2 Plus on Cricket but I'm not having any issues. Mine was only on Metro just under a month before I ported out to Cricket but had the device unlocked before ditching Metro.
