Stylus impressions, especially handwriting recognition

Just picked up the SHIELD yesterday (Aug 6th). Was really intrigued by stylus capabilities, especially for handwriting recognition.

So far I'm pretty impressed with handwriting recognition. I've used it for note taking in Evernote in a few meetings today. I will say that the palm rejection hasn't exactly been foolproof. Parts of my hand or arm will get recognized instead of the stylus, and that usually means I'm pressing the recent apps button when I am actually trying to write a word. Anyone encounter that and have any luck troubleshooting? I've messed a bit with the pen/touch delay setting (in lieu of palm rejection, I guess?) without much success.

Also, I'd sure like it if when I take out the stylus it could automatically change text input to handwriting recognition. Otherwise I feel like I'm going to be manually switching between SwiftKey and handwriting recognition a lot.

On the upside, the stylus is pretty comfortable to hold, and the gestures available for editing your handwritten text on the fly are pretty robust. I should say that I have zero stylus experience so maybe my expectations are, well, let's say, uncalibrated.

I've tried Dabbler a bit and I think that's going to be fun once I find my way around.

Thanks for sharing. I'm sure many are interested to see how the DirectStylus has improved since the Note 7.

I love the way the stylus launcher pops up automatically, it would be cool if the keyboard switched to writing too. I think the stylus is the best engineered part of the whole tablet. The ability to write and have it convert to type so well is waaaay better than the Nexus 7 using a normal round head stylus and the '7notes' app.

Lollipop update allows for handwriting recognition mode to be toggled automatically when stylus removed! In the settings. Then, when you put the stylus back, switches back to the previous input method. It's like an early Christmas present!
