SubDisplay keeps stopping / Second Screen freezing

For the last couple months or so, I noticed thst the outside ticker display on the second screen cover would either not work or would freeze at the wrong time (and battery charge level and whatever info was on that screen at the time)

It seemed that this would occur after I got the SubDisplay stopped working error pictured below.

Also, it seems that the always on display also stops working at this same time. We noticed this on both my V60 and my fiancee's V40.

We reset both our phones because we noticed what seemed to be a battery drain issue on both phones. Battery drain seems to be resolved but we still get SubDisplay errors.

I did notice that the always in display would start working again after clearing notifications, and this is again for both phones.

But the outside ticker display only begins working again temporarily after a reboot.

Anyone else with these issues and / or have insight?

Another day another crash, both sub display and AOD. I clear data and clear cache but they still act up.

Does this happen only when the display case is connected, or do you get these notices when only using the phone? Have you tried running it in safe mode (press and hold the power button to bring up the shutdown prompts, then press and hold the power off option to bring up the safe mode prompt)?

I'll try safe mode but it happens with and without the case and also on my fiancee's V40, so I thought this would be something others would be experiencing too.

It's not something I've experienced on my V60, but I also never use the screen case. That's why I was asking that.
