For Galaxy Note 2 it's working for other models it should also work

First thing you need to do is ... go to settings-> data usages-> in data usage cycle set your billing period say every month 1st
then set it to 1 april-31 may

make sure mobile data is checked

in the below graph set the warning limit to say 100MB and end limit to 1GB(or what ever data plan limit you have)

Now you will get warning on reaching warning threshold and will be notified of high data consuming app... here we can say google+

now from below listed apps select google+ and then click on view app settings

click on auto backup-> back up photos->over wifi-only
un-check backup local folders, roaming , while charging only
on to auto-backup- set to off

now click on back key
again backup key
just below the view app settings - check -restrict background data

click on back key and for all other high data consuming app do follow the following step

just below the view app settings - check -restrict background data

thats all

to keep track on how much data is being consumed you can use a handy app - My Data Manager

if your issue get resolved by this please don't forget to mark as correct answer and share it.

Thanks

I just had this issue happen yesterday on my GS5 (4.4.2), got a text from my SP warning I was below x amount of data, then 8 min later got another one saying another 120mb was used.

I'm with Vodacom in South Africa, where data bundles are pathetic. I only have 450mb/m. I came from Apple so I'm new to Andriod. I checked the data usage and Google+ was way up there on 350mb!!! Despite me checking when I originally set it up that backup should be wifi only for photos and no back up for video.

Since yesterday I have done what padmalochan suggested above (disabled background activity, also set it to backup when charging only) and will see how it goes, but this is definitely a bug - shouldn't use data unless you allow it.

I have exactly the same issue :( I usually use watsapp and facebook with my mobile net . But when I see In the data consumption google + has used 9 gb of my data . how do I fix it ??:(:(

You cannot get rid of app but you can disable it. The same thing happened to me and now it is all good. Go to settings and then scroll down to application manager and find app and click on it and then you will see various options.

I have a 10GB plan, i share between 5 other phones, all the other phones have used less than 500MB and suddenly my phone has used over 10GB in the past 2 days! Done nothing different! Lately i have also seen Google + eating up all the battery on my phone. Now this...

07/04/2014 11:44 AM 1.37831GB
07/04/2014 11:22 AM 1.93131GB
07/04/2014 8:58 AM 4.36298GB

So basically yesterday on July 4th i used almost 7.5GB of data and i did nothing out of the ordinary, now im over my limit with Verizon! WTF Google Plus? I have backup set to WIFI only, guess i will check the box that says "restrict background data" and see if that helps.

Yesterday I went through 1.76gb in less than 12 hours putting me just under my limit with 17 days to go. It's crazy. It happened a couple of months ago when I first got my S5 because I forgot to set it to back up on WiFi only. I checked and it's still set that way. I checked WiFi usage and G+ used just under 20gb in the last 3 days. Being in Canada the carriers here rape you for data charges. Overages are $5 for 100mb up to 1500mb. Of course it's pretty much impossible to get any support.

I hit 22 GB in one week and $500 data charge (thank you, Rogers and Google!). I hate Google+. Many reasons, this is one of them.

I too am a victim of this .On WiFi, google plus gobbled up ~10 GB of data in the background in just a month. Deterioration of bandwidth ,poor battery and a doubled up bill were the imminent results. After noticing that Google+ was the culprit I successfully disabled the app (settings>apps>google+) and uninstalled its updates as well... what the app did with 10gb of data is still a mystery.

This happened to me to. I am in South Africa where Data is still very expensive and running up 10 GB in 3 weeks on a Samsung Mini s4 is a huge problem. I hope by restricting background will solve this. Where did 10Gb of data go to?? All the vids and photos on my phone is not even 5 Gb?

Is it better to rather disable Google plus?

Hi, I was able to disable google+ yesterday after it used up 50% of my data even though I was not using it. I was told by my carrier to contact Google to alert them.

Just experienced this problem on my wife's phone (Galaxy S5 with Verizon Wireless acct).

Can anyone explain how this happens?

Thanks.

I had a sudden spike of about 2gb allegedly all from email in a single day. That'd take about 68,000 emails according to an online data calculator I found. I sent about 25! 2gig is half my monthly allowance! So halfway through the month I'm now out of data. My provider has given me extra data free but refuse to accept I didn't use the data.

Many thanks, your tip to unsynch apps and how to get to them was most helpful...will keep my fingers crossed that it helps!

Hi, turn on 'data saver,' that will take care of it. pull down from the top, you will see settings gear with a down arrow, data saver is in there, touch it to turn it on and you're set

Hi everyone,

I normally use most of my 2gb of data in a month. However, suddenly since a new billing cycle started 2 days ago, I have already gone over the limit! I haven't been doing any more data-intensive activities than I usually do; maybe an hour of Pandora and a few texts.
Additionally, my phone is running out of battery much faster than it used to.

I checked my data usage and over 99% of it was from Google+.
I don't even use Google+. I've literally never opened the app.

I would like to uninstall Google+ or do anything to stop Google+ from using all my data. I went to settings->apps->google+, but there was no option to uninstall or disable

Any advice on how to keep google+ from using all my data? Thanks very much!

okay i had this issue for ages and couldnt find a solution for the life of me. idk if its the same for all of you but i hadnt updated my phone and thats why it was using all my data. even though i had auto updates off, it was trying to update anyway and kept failing. connect to wifi and update your phone to the latest by checking in about device. androidos now uses less than 1mb a day for me, whereas before it was using upwards of 200mb.
