Suddenly my contact caption has "On my Galaxy!" On a FRIEND's phone.

Got a new Note 8 yesterday, and was all stoked to show it off to the girlfriend when she got back to town tonight. But, not long after pickup, I get a text from her, and she asks, "Did you get the Galaxy Note?!?" (We both had Note 7's and were super pissed when we had to give them up.) I asked her what made her ask all of a sudden. She said, "your contact picture changed and it says from a Galaxy on it."

So I had her show me. Sure enough, there's a caption next to me in my contact info.



Anybody have any idea how this happened? I literally picked up my phone at 1700 yesterday, and by 1900, my contact was updated on somebody else's phone. What gives?

FYI, she's running a GS7E, and we are both Verizon.

That's because each Samsung account has a "profile" which you can edit in Contacts. If you open Contacts and go to the top. you can see your profile where you can edit your status and info.

BTW you can choose not to share your profile and it will turn off

I agree with the OP, her contact information should not have been changed by his profile on his phone. Unless, when it was setup, that profile somehow was used. One Samsung phone can tell from a phone number whether another phone is a Samsung, but not to that extent I don't think.

Its a Samsung to Samsung thing. If you had a previous Samsung phone with the profile on, it will carry over to the next device. It will update on everyone else's phone if you have Profile Sharing on and you update your status on your phone. It's kinda like Facebook in a way

is that a Sammy theme on that page? I would prefer anything other than white. everything is white on mine. blech.

Yep, it's from the Samsung theme store. Long press the home screen and go to wallpapers and themes. This is the one I'm using, but the theme store has plenty. This one was free
