Suddenly my Gear S3 won't remotely connect

No lte here the other day I left my watch at home and went out and noticed the gear was RC so I'm guessing every thing but the phone would work on the watch? Thanks
The watch can remotely connect using it's cellular radio or wifi. Since there is no VoIP app, non LTE models can't make calls.

FYI, the phone can remotely connect via it's cellular or wifi. This is useful when setting up a dedicated phone solely for the watch.

Hello guys, I have been having the same issue and tried to find the solution without any success. Fortunately, I believe I have recently found the solution to this issue (I don't know if some has already mentioned it above)

The problem is, your samsung account might be disconnected in the background, without any notice. I don't know why, but the app doesn't tell you your account is actually disconnected (in fact, some account functions still work fine so it is not completely disconnected, I don't know if this makes sense)

The solution when you have this remote connection issue is go try buying any of the apps through your Samsung Gear app. If you do that, the app will tell you that you are actually disconnected from Samsung account and cannot buy anything. Simply login to your account again, and cancel your purchase. Now you are connected to the account again, and your remote connection will be working fine.

This solution worked perfectly in my situation, and hopefully solve your issues too. Now I do not factory-reset my watch everytime I have remote connection issue. I simply go re-login to my Samsung account. Thanks.

Was a cause or solution to this ever found? I'm having the same issue. I have the non lte version, but it used to connect remotely via WiFi when I'd leave my phone on the charger and step out of Bluetooth range. Now it just goes into standalone.. Very frustrating.

If you use BT or WiFi you must have a connection to the phone for it to work, through BT or WiFi. Connected Remotely means it connects through the local cell network to your phone. I don't think you can Connect Remotely using non-LTE.

I've been able to connect remotely with either Wi-Fi or LTE. It just needs a network connection. It doesn't matter whether it's LTE or not.

Had the same issue and was able to resolve it today. Unfortunately samsung customer support will keep asking you questions with no real answer in sight.

Step 1: reset your gear

Step 2: uninstall your gear app from your phone and restart phone

Step 3: reinstall gear app on your phone

Step 4: skip setup process on gear watch, and go into settings and activate Bluetooth and wifi. Connect your watch through Bluetooth first to phone and then connect to wifi.

Step 4: go into your gear watch settings and go to connect to phone.

Your gear watch will now be recognized by your phone, and it will proceed with setup. Follow the onscreen instructions and all of your backed up data should be back on your watch once setup is complete. Hope this works for others as it did for myself.

I just registered particularly to thank you for these detailed instructions. It worked for me! Much appreciated! And again... WTF Samsung...

I have an LTE using TMob DIGITS and this happens to me sometimes. Usually its because there is no cell connection so it goes to Standalone and proceeds to eat my battery alive. When that isn't the case I connect BT to the phone, make sure the connection is solid (like wait 5 mins), then turn the BT ON THE PHONE off, leaving BT on the watch untouched. Just in case. The watch goes to Standalone for a bit then to Connected Remotely and I'm fine. THEN I turn the BT off on the watch and back on in my phone for other connections like my truck. NOT BEFORE. I don't do any of that other stuff.

The cause is usually poor cell connectivity. I'm sort of out in the country. In town it's never a problem as long as there's 4G. My watch has it's own number but DIGITS allows me to essentially use the watch as an extension of my primary phone number. Cant sync calendar and some other stuff but I go on BT for a few mins in the evening to sync so it's not a problem. I'm retired so there isn't alot on the calendar anymore. Or I simply put important events into the phone calendar. That's also doesn't sync but the alarm goes off and that's what counts.

None of the recommended solutions are working for me. Screen on my phone says, “Setting up your phone...Almost there.” Has said that for abou 9 hours now.
