Super sucky battery life!

Lmao..that's impossible with this phone..for the record I had my evo the first hour on drorp day and have read all forums about battery life..I have nothing on just data and no not 4g..I have to go now because I am at 10 percent life after 2.5 hours of usage and my phone might die..

I love how you choose to ignore my post proving you dead wrong. Obviously intelligence isn't your strong point. You have a bad app. Period.

EVO Battery is actually getting better. Completed 4 complete battery charges thus far. Off charger at 7:30am With moderate use during the day its at 80% by 6pm.

But I do have the extended battery.

i get 11+ hours with no hardship -

1. 4G, WIFI, GPS, BT, Hotspot all set at OFF with widgets. turn ON only as needed.
2. Brightness set to very low (underneath checkmark - extreme left). this is plenty bright for me.
3. No Live Wallpaper. not sure of this makes a difference but i have my own graphic anyway.
4. No Data intensive constant data hungry widgets/apps constantly running. i wiped News and Stocks and Sprint Zone. uncheck them for sync. i will get my data from the browser fresh as needed. i have no updating widgets other than 2 weather cities with the nice big beautiful HTC Clock/Weather default widget i keep with auto refresh at 1 hour. i have 2 GMail PUSH accounts that i set up and are always on.
5. Sign out of everything when done - GTalk, Qik, FB, etc. Everything! i don't use this stuff anyway. as noted before - let GTalk run in the background for PUSH Gmail but always sign out and uncheck auto sign you in.
6. Vibrate is ON for Calls and Texts. Vibrate is OFF for emails. all Haptic Feedback - Keyboard, Screen, etc. is OFF.
7. i DO NOT use a task killer or kill tasks with the Manage Applications Panel.

While people are getting better than me, I'm still getting 12-15hours with moderate/heavy use.

GPS is on at all times
Syncing exchange calendar and email with push on
Twitter (twidroyd) updates every 30 minutes
5-6 calls
5-20 text messages a day
Facebook updating every hour
Weather updating every hour.
Haptic feedback and vibrate of everything on.

There's no logical way to be dead in 1.5-3 hours unless you're doing something wrong.

Let me ask you guys who are getting 1.5-3 hours of battery life something:

Are you literally sitting there with the screen on in your hands, doing something on the phone for those 1.5-3 hours straight?

I'd love to know this as well. If I play Homerun Battle 3d online for 2 hours straight (literally straight with no breaks) it'll murder my battery. However running the CPU at 100% for several hours I kind of expect that.

I normally have no trouble going 14 to 16 hours. Hell yesterday after 17 hours I was to 40% when I went to bed. The definition for light, medium and heavy usage is going to vary for everyone.

For me I use my phone through out the day as much as I want. I email, text, a few phone calls, listen to a few podcast, browse the net some, play some games. However it's usually 5 or 10 minutes here and there not several hours straight.

I usually get about 8 hours on mine...I have everything turned off except 3G and WIFI. I do have a ton of apps installed, but I have sync turned off, as is background data transfer. Maybe it's a rogue app or three, but you'd think that would show up in the Battery Use screen.

Nobody asked: do you have good 3g signal? No signal and buttery will go down fast.

Honestly, Google needs to invest and figure out this "rogue" app deal. Hopefully gingerbread will be available to Evo and it will have better task management. Regardless, I'm a very happy camper. I've had the best smartphone available for 3 months.... that's a pretty decent reign. :)

@hk-usp45: good point. For that matter, I have a CRAPPY 3G signal here at my house. Totally crappy. I'm lucky to get 500 Mbps/sec using Speedtest.net. I was on top of a mountain once and got twice the speed that I get at home. My "Time Without Signal" is usually near 50% or higher, for whatever that's worth.

There's a great 4G signal to be had as close as 2 miles away (as the crow flies) so I'm understandably quite pissed.

Come on Sprint, don't forget to fill in the gaps in your hurry to cover the nation.

I had same issues as OP and read another thread on this forum about battery life and suggestions. I tried everything and the one thing that I didn't want to try was the one thing that helped the most; reseting the unit to factory. It was a definite improvement and I no longer lose juice like crazy. Another thing I have noticed is that any battery monitoring widget I install seems to make the battery drain faster. Ironic, I know. Also, Particle Storm live wallpaper, even though I love it, is a serious drain.
I followed (and still do) many of the suggestions on the other thread and along with that, the reseting to factory helped me a great deal.
A last tip: install only one app at a time and see how it affects the battery. If you drop too many apps at once you'll never know which one is the culprit.

Good luck.

I get at least a days worth of moderate usage. I haven't read all posts but search for battery tips. They will help a ton..

I'm thinking a hard reset is needed for anybody getting one hour of battery life. Besides how is it a flaw when you can replace the battery with a bigger one? Isn't that a major selling point? I was getting eight hours with regular use and just got extended battery (3500 mah) and now I'm easily getting through two days with heavy usage , that is if I don't go nuts playing nova. Lol.

I don't know what you are used to but my iPhone 3GS had the same battery life as my Evo so meh, that's why I keep 3 chargers ;)

O really? Hmm...

Unrooted I'd get 12-16 hours with no problem. Hell unrooted i could watch two full length movies with rock player and still be well over 50%. Either you're full of **** and just trolling or you have a serious issue like a rogue app that's killing your battery life and instead of using your head and trying to figure out whats going on you bash the phone and call the people that get good battery life liars....

Hey Jerzy ... Question: How many apps do you have in your app drawer right now?

What's with all the name calling and flaming in this thread? It's only a battery discussion for Pete's sake.

Follow Gecko's advice and check out the battery life sticky. There are definitely things you can do to improve battery life.

Yah battery life does suck this phone but its something I was prepared for thats why I bough 3 separate chargers. Just get them from ebay they are super cheap.

I'm able to pull about 18 hours with moderate to light use.

But with heavy use I am lucky to get more than 5.

CM6's stock kernel handles phone idle very well. But it sucks a lot of juice when my phone its awake for extended periods of time. I still don't think it's worse than stock though.

That picture posted with the 1day usage doesn't prove anything. Only thing it shows is you dont use your phone at all.

The most I can get out a battery charge is like 5 or 6 hours at most now. I had to pick up the two batteries from eBay for $10.
