surfing web as a pc?

I once read somewhere that I can set my phone to be recognized as a PC in order to access websites that would be inaccessible through a mobile device. I remember reading that I'm supposed to type something into the URL bar to access the control panel necessary for changing these settings. Is it possible? If so, I would greatly appreciate a guide/explanation.

The latest release of Google Chrome has an option that allows you to request the desktop version of a site. Note you have to running CM9 [ROM] CyanogenMod 9 beta2: Android 4.0.4 for Samsung Epic 4G - xda-developers to get it.

If you are using Dolphin, go to settings and select User Agent. Set to Desktop.
