Just swapped Razr for Maxx as i had one day left with VZW on returns policy for xmas.. straight swap.. looking forward to that big battery. Love the razr but my job keeps me away from a charging point for hours so that big battery is welcome. Its out on 26th according to VZW

How did you actually swap the Razr for the maxx when it is not out until the 26th?

Yea I was in Verizon yesterday trading in a G Nex for a Rezound...and somebody else was going the same thing you're doing for the Maxx.

I'm not gonna lie....if I could I would do the same thing. Not having remorse or anything....but huge battery vs. stock one in the RAZR?

Yep i love the Razr, best phone out there right now but there are times when i'm checking how much power i have left. In my line of business i can't always be by a charger point. This new Maxx will get me sorted and keep me happy for 2 years. Hopefully then these sized batteries will be standard.. they need to be.

Makes me LOL how many people are dissapointed with that Gnex.. all the talk, all the hype lol

You can get the Anker 5600 external charger for $40 @ Amazon and use it to charge anything. The restocking fee is just money thrown away, but at least you actually get something for you money going thus route.

That's actually a pretty good idea. I have been debating whether or not I was going to be willing to give up the ultra-thin and lightweight aspects of the razr for more battery. Since I only run out of battery on rare occasions when I know I may be traveling or something, I could just throw one of these things in my back pocket (looks like they make one that is about the size of a smartphone) and when I need to, just slip it in with my razr and charge it while it all sits in my pocket.

Anybody have any experience with these things?

I don't have the Anker but I do have an external battery. It's great. I've used it plenty of times to charge a phone while it's in my pocket.

I have no problems going all day on my Razr. Personally i bought the Razr for how thin it is. If i wanted something thicker i would of went with a gnex "i got that to".

I mean if you need to charge your Razr during the day then its deff. worth it but the batt. life for 9/10 people is fine. The whole point of the Razr was how thin it was.

How did you work this? When I spoke with VZW two days ago, they had no confirmation of a release date for the MAXX; therefore, couldn't pre-order it or do a straight swap.

If your original Razr was activated and you are exchanging for the Maxx, you will be charged a $35 restocking fee.

The only way they wont make you pay the restocking fee is if the razr was never activated and everything was "sealed" per say.

If you exchange a phone for a different phone and it is not due to a defective phone, there is a $35 restocking fee. Perhaps they will charge you the $35 when you go to pick up your new phone. If not, they made a mistake and consider yourself lucky.

vzw business customer with multiple phones on account and the beauty of having your own account mgr. Once again i will state, i will not be paying a restock fee

The release date was just announced yesterday. Try again today.

Thanks. I did. Technically, the release date of 26 January was displayed on a Moto web page shortly after the MAXX was announced at CES on January 9. VZW has not officially announced a release date. Currently (as of noon EST), they cannot pre-order the phone. I just got off the phone with them. They also said that they expect the MAXX to be available over the next two weeks.

For those with a business account, the cost of carrying that type of account provides benefits that are not available to those with residential accounts. Therefore, as previously stated, those with residential accounts returning a phone within the VZW grace period must pay a restocking fee if they have activated the phone and the phone is not defective. If the phone is defective, they usually replace it with like for like. With a new version of the model coming out, it remains to be seen whether they'd see clear to replacing a defective Razr with the newer MAXX version.
