As the title says, I use SwiftKey and have it chosen in my Language and input settings. Randomly, my keyboard reverts back to the standard Samsung keyboard. When I go into settings, SwiftKey is still chosen but when I hit the SwiftKey settings a menu box pops up and it is not chosen there, the Samsung one is. I choose SwiftKey and it works for a while and then reverts back. Am I doing something wrong or could it be a bug?

The way samsung boots up, it will not look for a third party keyboard as a default. My Note2 reverts to the stock keyboard with every reboot. Until samsung changes the way it boots, this will keep happening.

This is a known bug in Samsung's implementation of Android 4.1.2. 4.2.2 is supposed to fix it. If you're rooted, you can disable the stock keyboard and this will no longer happen.

I'd suggest being careful with disabling the stock keyboard - I can't remember the post, but IIRC some guy removed the stock keyboard (using Titanium Backup) and when he restarted and had to enter his password, no keyboard was available. YMMV.

Thanks for the replies. It doesn't happen only upon a reboot, but randomly during the day. If 4.2.2 fixes it I will just wait for the update. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't just me. Thanks everyone.

Have you tried a Factory Reset? I have 4.1.2 and I've never had that problem with SwiftKey vs. the stock keyboard.

I see this thread is a few months old but I have been searching for an answer to this since my wife brought it to my attention. She has a Nexus 4 with swiftkey.. randomly it will just revert back to the stock keyboard. She has 4.4.2 on the phone.

any ideas on this issue?

Known issue with Samsung. I had the same problem, but it is fixed with the new upgrade..

I don't believe it to be a Samsung problem, since it has started with my Nexus 5 after the 4.22 update and it's just killing me...

Get Keyboard Picker & choose SwiftKey as the default. Whenever you reboot the phone or turn the power back on, Keyboard Picker will pop up to allow you to verify with one tap that SwiftKey is the default. That's the best you can do unless you upgrade to 4.3.
