SwiftKey X Free on Amazon Today

Buen buen buen, just typed it 3 times and it was learned on third try. Sorry. I'm on today's Amazon version. I have the space bar set to always insert a space. How many languages do have selected?

Thanks, Robrecht

I have US English and US Spanish.

I tried what you wrote and it began to predict "buen" in a sequence of words. But it still seems to refuse to predict it as the first word in a sentence...

Maybe I just need to do it a few hundred times to get it ranked high enough by their prediction algorithm :)

I would be interested to know too especially since I have around 100 Amazon apps already.

I downloaded it so as to get it for free, but I didn't install it. I see it listed in MyApps/AllApps with a choice to [INSTALL]. But I don't see any way to delete it if I decide not to install it. Am I missing something? I've only got two other apps from Amazon so I'm not very familiar with the Amazon Market software.

I haven't found a way to delete/hide Amazon apps. I have about 15 that I have "bought" but not installed, and they just sit there on the My Apps list, waiting to be freed...

You can install them and then uninstall them, but I believe they will show up again on the list when an updated version is released (not 100% positive about this part).

Nope, that's the way it works. No way to delete it, but you never need to download or install it either. I emailed Amazon about that and they actually tried to imply that it might be the developer's fault! But that's the way all their appa work. Except when the updates disappear!

I just opened up a fresh document, typed "bu" and one of the suggestions is "buen". When I select "buen", the first suggestion is "dia." But I only have one language (English) selected currently. Like I said above, the fewer languages you have selected, the more efficient the predictions can be because they are being drawn from a single language database rather than trying to predict what you're about to type from 2 or more different language databases.

I'm guessing you'd see different behavior if you had the spanish dictionary loaded as I do. It has other words that compete with "buen" such as "buenos" and "buenas", which must be very popular in the algorithm. :)

But I appreciate your help in understanding the app a little better.

Yeah, maybe a couple hundred times to prefer one over the others.

I really liked this keyboard and everything, but I was sad when I noticed there was no setting for Dvorak. Well, at least I have it for the future in case they release a Dvorak setting. =)

I installed this last night and it was working fine for a while, but for some reason I now only have the stock keyboard, regardless if I turn SwiftKeyX on and off in settings or do a restart/hot restart. I have a rooted TB with Das BAMF with Sense 3.0 RC4.9

While you're in a document or text box typing, long press on the text-entry part of the screen, choose Input method and then select SwiftKey X.

Thanks, Robrecht

Ah, ok. I'll have to remember that if it happens again. I ended up installing and reinstalling.

Here's some discussion around this issue on SwiftKey's website. You can email Sarah Reynolds, their support lead, who commented there early on, and make sure she understands the issue. She is incredibly responsive and she can make things happen internally there. I knew once we got her attention about this issue with SwiftKey X, once it was out of beta and on the Market, that it would be addressed quickly. Previously, it had been difficult to get SwiftKey to pay much attention to the beta testers, even on their own beta tester forum.

Thanks, Robrecht

Is there a way to type the following using Swiftkey?

U.S.

U.K.

U.S.S.R.

i.e.

e.g.

A.K.A.
