SwiftKey X Free on Amazon Today

Sorry for a noob question but how do I get this app when the amazon app store isn't compatible I'm rooted. Thanks for the help in advance.

I wish I could find a keyboard app with a keyboard that looks must like the d1 keyboard except with the longpress alternatives added. I tried several keyboard apps but never found a skin I liked as much as the d1. I had trouble reading swiftkeyx in sunlight. I did like its predictive ability.

So you go into the program settings and disable the other languages in order to change? Do you have to re-download language packs that way?
Download the languages you want and keep them. Don't need to download every time you switch languages. When you want to switch or add a language, tap the settings key to the left of the spacebar and comma keys, Settings, Language profile, Language, and check the language(s) you want and uncheck the ones you don't want. AI predictions are especially helpful if your Spanish is a little rusty. The fewer languages you have checked at any given time, the more efficient the predictive process.

Thanks, Robrecht

I'd put up with the switching-languages process if it could add my words to its dictionary. Any tips on that one? :)

Haven't come across that issue personally, but I think others have requested it, or perhaps the ability to remove words added by mistake (which now can be done). On their website you can vote for features that you would like to see added. I've added some very unique words (by using them a few times), eg, email addresses, etc. Can you give examples of words you cannot add?

Thanks, Robrecht

I used SwiftKey x, and did not have problems seeing the text I am typing in landscape. I took a screenshot of the text field and attached it.

It seems like that should be an easy fix and I'm encouraged that they finally obtained a ThunderBolt today (they're in England) to work on this.

I too tried K9 but IIRC it had the same problem that the earlier version of SwiftKey had, namely, I couldn't see what I was typing in landscape mode in the stock HTC email app.

Thanks, Robrecht

seems to be a problem with the amazon release, i have another release of swiftkey x, and i can add words okay. for example, if i typed "XKSdsj" then clicked on the text in either the left or middle field (wherever it appears), then next time it will be there. on the amazon version, if i typed the same string, it will not show up in any of the 3 predictive fields. the version i am using now has a different version # than the amazon one.

Maybe it's me but, I have the SwiftKey X installed, its set as the default keyboard but I have yet to see the dang thing? It doesn't show up when I use GO SMS Pro or in Gmail. What am I doing wrong?

Do you currently or have you ever had two versions installed at the same time?

Try long pressing while inside the compose box of GoSMS and select "input method" then switch it that way. That's what I did today. :)

Is that in the stock HTC email ap? Are you on a custom ROM?

Thanks, Robrecht

Damn shame they need a credit card # to get free stuff. Seems stupid. I gave up on credit cards don't use them or have any desire to use them. Guess I'll have to pass on this one.
Oh c'mon... you didnt' really think the apps were free, did you? :)

yes, I don't think that's the problem. in advanced settings, when I have the amazon version set to "space bar will...complete current word", then it works fine. when set to "space bar will always insert space" then it will not display what i am typing in the predictive field if is a weird word.

"Buen" as in "buen dia". I have to click the word every time because space is set to complete the current word. Swiftkey won't learn it even though I've typed it and selected it dozens of times. This is true of the current X, as well as the beta X from Android Market.

Buen buen buen, just typed it 3 times and it was learned on third try. Sorry. I'm on today's Amazon version. I have the space bar set to always insert a space. How many languages do have selected?

Thanks, Robrecht

Highly recommend it!
I downloaded it so as to get it for free, but I didn't install it. I see it listed in MyApps/AllApps with a choice to [INSTALL]. But I don't see any way to delete it if I decide not to install it. Am I missing something? I've only got two other apps from Amazon so I'm not very familiar with the Amazon Market software.
