switching from 3g/4g to edge/1x/2g?

hello i need help switching from 3g to the next lowest speed, idk what the correct term is, i want this because 3g drains my battery n all i really use internet for small things, that dont require a fast speed

I don't know that you'll really save anything. I suggest installing Juice defender to manage your radios so you only use them when you need them. That will solve your drain problem. Or, install a control widget that shuts off networking manually & only turn it in when you need it. Either way, you'll probably double your battery life.
