Switching from eSIM to SIM a pain on Android 10

So I have noticed something ridiculously annoying from jumping from Android 9 to 10. I have a Pixel 2 XL, and I have a local SIM card and I keep a Fi account for international travel. Before, switching was a pinch - just switching carriers in the menu. Now, if I want to switch back from Fi to the SIM, I have no choice but to pop the SIM out and put it back in so it can read my local network. Which is not annoying but it's a pain when (a) I didn't have to do it before and (b) I am not traveling with a little SIM tray opener! I guess my problem is pretty niche but has anyone experienced this so far?
