I am heading to Florida next week and really need my gps. Right now I am running 2.9.1 and can't lock at all standing outside in the clear. I could lock on eb01 stock but it took sometime and inside the car was even harder. Ea28 was a beast at locking my gps spot on and the gps is more important to me than flash this next week. I really was hoping one of the devs could fix this bug in froyo before next week.

Do you have all three location services checked under menu=>settings=>location and security? If you are using Google maps do you also have wifi turned on? Have you downloaded and flashed the GPS fix patch Adrynalyne posted in his superclean thread? I did both and this morning on the way to work I turned on GPS, wifi, opened up g-maps and got a lock to within 6 meters within 10 seconds. Then I turned all that off, drove about 20 miles, turned it back on, opened up g-maps, and while the car was moving on the expressway, g-maps scrolled to my current location and I got a lock accurate to within 1 meter in about 2 seconds.

Yes I have Adrynalyne's patch flashed. I couldn't get a lock with google or a gps from the market but I didn't have all the gps switches on, I turned them on and got a lock outside. I am going for a drive later so I can do a test run. I sure hope this works I really don't want to go back to stock.

I am not sure why turning all three gps switches on is making a difference, you would think by turning on the stand alone gps you would get a lock. Anyhow, thanks for pointing that out, in another forum that won't get named I would of gotten flamed for not doing a thorough search through their holy archives.

Well if you're using google maps, kind of makes sense to use google locations services. And if you read the first post in Adrynalyne's thread where he documents the changes in 2.9 and the 2.9.1 patch he specifically says under the 2.9 section he "added the Verizon location services framework in an attempt to get better working GPS."
We are more friendly here, but we will give you a friendly reminder where to find information and that you need to check the first post of a lot of the informational threads, especially the stickies. As that is where the OP will update information. You should definitely see a huge improvement in your GPS with Adrynalyne's work and using all three location services.
Also wanted to let you know, Adrynalyne advises turning your wifi and gps on and off from the settings menu instead of the notification bar. I just found this little tidbit out myself from playing around - you can leave the Verizon and Google services checked in the settings menu, and when you check and uncheck the stand alone service, that is what toggles the gps icon in the notification bar on and off.
