Fully implement what? A messaging experience like iMessage for all of Android? If "there's absolutely no reason", don't you think Google would have done it? It's just not that simple because of Androids openness. So many of the reasons we love Android are also it's biggest challenges. You can't dislike Apple's closed ecosystem and also want to have the benefits of a closed ecosystem. It just doesn't work that way.There's absolutely no reason why Google shouldn't fully implement this into a future OS update/ Google messenger update.
Edit:. I will just add that Google is working with carriers to create an iMessage like experience across all platforms. It's called RCS or Rich Communication Services. You can Google it to read more. It sounds like it just takes time to implement because of all the parties involved.
