Anyone else get it? i did and it is amazing. i loaded it on my dad's droid and ever since then i wanted it so bad for my eris. Installed it and it works beautifully. its so fast and easy to use.

I was unaware that this was available for the Eris. How can I download it? It isn't in the app. Market.

I could not get mine to work.
gbhil- how do i install it after i have downloaded it?

cool i got it installed i'm actually using it right now. to install it I used astro file manager...i went to the file after I copied it to my sd card i just clicked on the file and selected "application browser"or something and it let me install.

mrfarinhight: sorry about the confusion. I didn't realize the Eris had a different version than the Droid. I deleted our posts above. Glad you got it working.

what am i doing wrong? I can't get it to work. I have extracted the files in the phone and don't see anything to install. I need some help please.

Okay I'll try to explain it to you. So, first you download the swype file. The file should be .adk or something. Then mount your phone and copy and paste the file straight on to your sd card. I didn't put mine in a folder or anything, I copied it straight to the card. Then, unmount your phone and open astro file manager. The file should be at the very bottom.Click on it, and select the bottom option I believe. It will take you to another page where the option to install will be on the top left. And there you go!

Just downloaded and installed swype. Thanks to all for the file and the directions. This program is EASILY the best softkeyboard option I've seen in 5 years. I'm a converted winmo user so I'm probably easy to impress. But swype is so good, I'll happily pay money for the retail version when its available. IT'S THAT GOOD!

mrfarinhight- my file is this:
signed-swypebeta.apk.jar
This is the one i got from gbhil, above in the conversation(rapidshare).
Is this the one you used?
thanks for the help by the way.

Windows renamed the file when you downloaded it. It happens.
Change the name to signed-swypebeta.apk
Copy it to your SD card
Use Astro filemanager (in the market if you don't have it) as suggested to find it and open it. When you click on it a window will pop up. Choose "Open App Manager"
A new window opens. In the summary tab choose the install button.
Go to menu>settings>locale and text. Choose swype.
Open the settings and make sure keyboard sounds are disabled.
Go through the tutorial.
Open your mail app, and send your Mom/wife/girlfriend/signifigant other an "I love you" mail (get those brownie points while testing :) )
Long press on the text input field, and choose input method. Pick swype.
Enjoy.

i was having a lot of problems when i copied it to my memory card. i simply went to the link directly on my phone and downloaded it then installed it using eoeappinstaller. disable sounds so it doesnt crash and select swype under locale and text. awesome program really.

Awsome tip. Post it in the tips and tricks thread so we don't lose it.

this is pretty awesome!
but, it did force close on me once, right after I installed it. sounds were disabled, but predictive type was on. I turned that off and have been swyping ever since. Others experience this?
