I just rooted my girls fascinate. She is still on dj05 for battery sake. I installed dj05 super clean and now swype won't swype...you can text with it but not swype. Any ideas on how to make it work again?

What was the superclean version number you installed?

This happens with my wife's Swype every now and then. To fix it, long press on a text box and select the Android keyboard, then long press and select Swype again. See if that helps

When I do the long press and switch, then switch back, it says my trial period has expired

This popped up the other day as well. You installed the beta then, correct? Not the preinstalled version? To fix this, uninstall Swype, then use the Swype installer to download the updated version. Should be good to go then

Given that Swype is the biggest reason I love my phone, it now seems unlikely that I'll choose to root the phone.

Swype more often than not works just fine on a rooted phone. Actually, being rooted allows you to remove the outdated, unupdatable preinstalled version, and update to the latest public beta directly from Swype

What kevin said,,,,,,Root has nothing to do with swype, just the rom is using an incompatible version of it. we you just need a comptible version of swype.. this happened to me in one of the latest beta versions of superclean i just changed out the swype apk for a different one and done deal

Yea...my phone is fine with swype after rooting...i don't know what the deal was with hers. I did do the beta swype sbf everything is fine now

I have no idea what an "updatable" version of Swype would gain me, nor why an "outdated" version of the software presents me with any problems. Swype as it is (native, preinstalled) works fine; anything else presents a risk IMO.

I've had far more problems than benefits so far from "updates" of applications and of the phone's basic software. "New" is frequently not "better."

I'm not criticizing anyone who chooses to "root" their phone for whatever reason. I just don't see any benefit that would accrue to me, for my purposes. Chacun a son gout.
