Sync Issues with Facebook

I setup my Facebook account and told it to sync my contact list. however, all the contacts are still only showing the google "g" to the right of the name and none of my facebook friends's pictures. My original Motorolla Droid sync'ed everyone on my contact list that had a facebook account with their pictures. The weird thing, is that my Activities tab shows facebook status of people. Am I missing something here? I was expecting some people on my contact list to have a Facebook "f" and show their picture, etc.

your correct in what it "should" do check under the sync settings and make sure that the sync is turned on .. then make sure your contracts are not duplicated and need to be joined. third set the phone down and way away .. even if your sync is every 10 min it may take a few hours to pull ALL of the contacts from Facebook as you may have hundreds...

Try downloading the Facebook for Android Application, and then having it sync to your existing contacts your FB friends list. I found this to work better.

also just noticed it "lost" a picture from a contact and it didn't show their Facebook contact under "join contacts" but if you hit "get Friends" it will open the entire Facebook friend list to add the contact manually.

Where is "get Friends" located?

Nvm, found it. But the list is blank...

ok that means your facebook account isn't properly synced with your phone...
goto settings >> accounts and Sync make sure it is set up there..

goto Facebook.com and make sure your account setting are set up for mobile use..

When syncing your fb app, do you choose Sync all or Sync with existing contacts?

I did sync all to add all of my FB people to my phone... (its still easy to find people ) but if you only want the people already in your contact list to have the profile pics update chose existing

the stock contact manager is great about search so if you import 7 or 8 hundred contacts form FB you can still find everyone easily

My phone number was already activated for fb mobile on fb.com. I deactivated and activated it back, still waiting on the fb app to finish syncing. I have my texts set to "off" under My Account on fb.com...wouldn't that sound right since I have a smartphone and don't need texts?

Everything is finished syncing and "get friends" is still blank. Maybe it's not meant for me to make this work correctly haha.

Some what of a conclusion here. I remove the sync account that the fb app made. Went to the sync settings and create the fb sync account manually. Doing that was able to get the "get friends" list to populate, but didn't bring over the pictures, so I will have to add each person individually.

But when I signed back into the fb app, it asked which way to sync. I chose existing which then brought back the pictures. And now I have two fb sync accounts setup....odd?

1 is form the built in sync and the other is form the dl app you installed, so in your case it makes since to have 2 syncs...

not a huge deal i dont believe.... I think anyone with the stand alone app may be in this boat initially..

I ended up just pausing the fb app sync and just using the one i setup manually.it makes the contact have more fb content to look at. But the downside is you have to join each contact manually.
