Have been attempting to sync contacts for a month between Google, the phone, and Thunderbird. The outcome is that the total quantity in several groups changes by the day (or by the hour) and don't match between the 3 units.
Some of this I've seen as in the phone being seen as "not assigned." For instance today there are 6 entries, yesterday I reduced it from 17 to 0. Then last night reduced it from 5 to 0. I have no idea of the cause of this, other than perhaps Google is losing the group entries ???
Also there are a couple of contacts that continue to re-appear in large quantities in various groups -- perhaps 10, perhaps 3. Two of these contacts I've deleted from all groups and they still re-appear! Where are they hidden and how is this caused?
In 5 groups out of 15 the numbers constantly change and I see contacts are missing, and this includes My Contacts.
Have reached the conclusion that Google syncing simply doesn't work and should be dumped? Has anyone else experienced these errors?
