System Fonts..(for those looking for new stuff to flash)

I thought I would give this a bump...been seeing a few peeps saying "i got root, now what?" or "what are some cool stuff to flash" .

In froyo there is a change font setting with 3 lame fonts and where you can get more. The catch is you gotta pay for em.

These are free and the selection is huge...239 to be exact and they work on our phones. These get flashed in cwm.

Check em out.

If you're a flash addict ( and I know you are ) these will satisfy you for awhile


edit: oh and disregard the comments above about rom manager... I stopped using that long time ago lol

This is to give you guys a sample of what kind of fonts are out there.
I picked 4 of the most outrageous ones I could find.
There are lots more mellow ones to choose from.
These will change fonts in everything on your phone...browser/menus the whole shebang.
The link in op has the default font so if you need to go back to stock, you can.
First row is Starry Nights and Disgusting Behavior
Second row is Frosty and Infected

Ok it must be me....I can't get any of them to work. I couldn't download them from the links themselves, I had to go into the first link to "see the font" then downloaded the zip file from there. Flashed as usual and the little yellow bar at the bottom of CWM never fully loaded. it didn't load at all and cwm was stuck. I had to pull the battery both times I tried it.

On a side note, when I went to DL directly from the list that was provided, I got another tab to open, and at the top it said your computer is preventing youfrom downloading blah blah.....I hit download file and then nothing happened, I wasn't redirected or anything.

I hope this makes some kind of sence. I mean these are the easiest files to flash....why on earth can't I even download them right?

Putney, you might try downloading them directly on your phone. I used my computer to view the fonts and then went to the xda website on my phone to download the ones I wanted. I received an error the first time I tried to download one to my computer so I decided to try it directly to my phone and that worked fine.

It will not work - each of the zip files contain the three same files: Clocktopia.ttf, DriodSans.ttf, and DriodSans-Bold.ttf.. When you copy the files you will just overwrite the existing files of the same name... you will not be able to get them to appear in the Settings/Display menu unless you hack the menu and index them into the menu system.

One of them after I unzipped it in Astro let me change the name and then I copied and pasted it into the fonts directory but I still couldn't see it on the Settings/Display/Fonts menu.

That is what I thought. It will remain resident on the phone but the phone cannot access it. The phone knows to look for certain files (Clocktopia.ttf, DriodSans.ttf, and DriodSans-Bold.ttf.).. That is where the system font(s) are kept. In SC 2.9.2 four fonts were incorporated into the system fonts and then the menu was indexed to allow us to use them.

I am good at hacking images and png files but have not taken on fonts (yet).

I have the CleanEx font that I downloaded and that automatically added the font choices to the menu, so that's where I got the idea. I'll have to see if I can figure out how that works...

Was that font flashed to the phone or installed via market/apk? - Edit: Got my answer..
