System Memory Issue?

My system memory is showing about 48 GB. I have about 50GB of my own pics, videos, etc. imported from prior phone. I am using over 100 GB total already coming from a 64 GB phone. Can this be right? Thanks!

Any thoughts if something is wrong? Here's a picture showing system memory. If it matters, it is a Verizon phone.

I hate when the term memory is used for what should be called storage (to me, memory = RAM).

Anyway, it looks OK to me. If you're that concerned, maybe you should get an SD card & move your photos and videos to that (you don't want anything you want to keep stored internally - what happens if you have to get the phone replaced, or it gets reset?)

Check Facebook app uninstall see if storage reads correctly, another member found this issue with a poster.

Thanks. Already uninstalled Facebook. I am just looking at that system memory of 48 GB and thinking Android used to have a much smaller footprint. It was a quarter of the size on my s6. Has it become like Windows? If I only got the 128GB version, I'd basically have the same amount of available memory as the 64GB phone I replaced. This seems strange.

It is strange and little high for system storage but I never owned that high of stroage to say for sure.

System memory seems to be high, but I have the 128gb version with an SD card. My system memory is showing 19gb used.

Absolutely. The ignorati compound the problem by calling storage "ROM". They have no idea what they're talking about, but that doesn't stop them from blathering on in a desperate effort to gain eyeballs to the advertising that's on their web page (advertising I don't see, btw).

Is this the case for others? Do most have about 19GB of system memory? I'd imagine my system memory should be similar regardless of the 512 GB capacity. It seems I have an extra 30GB that are unaccounted for. Should I worry?

lol @ people calling hard drive space, memory. so the S10 has 8 gigs of storage and 128 gigs of ram??

I get the difference and agree. However, Samsung is listing it that way. I am specifically using "system memory" and showing the picture to figure out if somehow mine is corrupted or abnormal. Thanks for any help.

You have the 512gb. That is just a fraction of used space in comparison to the storage you have. If it really does bother you. You probably have duplicate files. You'll have to dig.

I have the US unlocked S10 128 GB and below is what it's reporting.

So if you go settings - device care - storage it should give a break down of what's occupying space. In mine around 50% is apps and other media stuff so approximately around 20 GB of what the OS and other system stuff takes.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, this screen shows no duplicate files.

Yeah. Here's the screen. Unfortunately, the phone doesn't let me detail the "system memory" section. Thank you everybody for trying to help.

My Verizon 1TB phone shows 96.5GB used and I have nothing on the phone. This seems very high to me.

Why would the 128GB version only use 19GB or 44GB and mine is using almost 100GB?

Maybe someone else with a Verizon branded phone can chime in and let us know how much storage space their device is using up?

Can you post a copy of your storage screen? I'm using 86 on my 512 but its accounted for because I copied everything over from my previous device. See my results below

My T-Mobile version shows this. Keep in mind every carrier has their own version of their updates and file sizes vary. Screenshot_20190318-065008_Settings.jpeg
